Recently, the International Standard "Spices and condiments-Seasoning oil of Zanthoxyli pericarpium-Specification" proposed by our country was voted and approved by the Subcommittee on Spices, Culinary Herbs and Condiments (ISO/TC 34/SC 7) of the Food Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization.
The project will focus on sensory, physical,chemical, safety , labeling requirements, and corresponding test methods for Zanthoxyli pericarpium seasoning oil.With the increasing demand for condiments in the world, the international trade of condiments including Zanthoxyli pericarpium seasoning oil has increased significantly.However, due to the lack of a unified and clear product quality and safety guarantee, the international circulation and consumer awareness of Zanthoxyli pericarpium seasoning oil products are limited.
The development of international standards will help to solve this problem, and it will also help Chinese specialty foods and related Chinese cooking to be understood by more consumers around the world.
The standard proposal is led by Hexin Agricultural Co., Ltd., jointly proposed by the China National Institute of Standardization, Nanjing Institute of Comprehensive Utilization of Wild Plants China Co-Op, Market Supervision Administration of Meishan Municipality. Associate Researcher Wang Lijun from the Institute of Theoretical Research of China National Institute of Standardization serves as the project leader.
